Nordic Action - A seminar about graphic design from Scandinavia

On May the 24th, 2014, LYNfabrikken hosted the one-day seminar Nordic Action where four of Scandinavia’s most interesting graphic designers came to share their work, processes and stories. We were hired in to do a video documentation of the inspiring day and were lucky to get a small chat with each of the speakers individually. The designeres were Claus Due from the Copenhagen based studio Designbolaget, Hans Christian Øren from Oh Yeah Studio in Oslo, Teemu Suviala from Kokoro & Moi which is based in both Helsinki and New York and Gustav Granström from Ritator in Stockholm. As moderator LYNfabrikken had invited the british graphic designer, writer and publisher Adrian Shaughnessy, who did a great job raising some important questions during the day and summed up the seminar with some interesting points about contemporary graphic design.

Oh Yeah Studio designing T-shirts for Ucon!

Ucon established their opening collection in the early summer of 2001. Founders Jochen Smuda and Martin Fussenegger came with a vision to develop a lifestyle brand anchored by creativity, quality tailoring, innovative appliqués and ethical production.

From the brand’s studio in Berlin, its focus remains on bespoke fabrics, tailored cuts, and notable detailing. Inspired by their friends, the city they call home and the places they choose to travel: this is what sets Ucon apart from their peers. This organic approach challenges the brand to constantly grow, develop and progress. This journey is anchored by a sincere foundation for quality products that is constantly challenged by the theory that you are only as good as your last shirt!

We are happy to write that Oh Yeah Studio are exhibiting in Belgrade, Serbia! The exibition opens on November 30 at 9 p.m. in KC Grad.

'Exquisite corpse features works by 14 illustratiors and studios from Europe, USA and Serbia. The Belgrade public will for the first time be presented with the works of some of the most influential design studios and illustrators on the international scene.

The title of the exhibition refers to the surrealist technique used to craft a collective collage of words or images. This game of sorts is played by several people, each of whom would write/draw a phrase/image on a sheet of paper, fold the paper to conceal part of it, and pass it on to the next player for his contribution. The end result is a sequence of loosely connected words/images, a surprising mishmash of individual visions forming a composition verging on the bizarre.

The exhibition features contributions by the following artists/studios: Hort (Germany), Non-Format (USA/Norway), Grandpeople (Norway), Ville Savimaa (Finland), Mark Giglio (USA), Dopludo Collective (Russia), SNASK (Sweden), IWANT (Great Britain), Oh Yeah Studio (Norway), Pablo Abad (Spain), Nebojša Cvetković (Serbia), Biskoteka (Serbia), Flomasters (Serbia) and Lorem Ipsum Studio (Serbia).'

The exhibition will be opened untile December 7th.
