They feature different designers each publications and interviewed us for the March 2010 edition. In addition they asked us to provide a poster to go with the magazine. We made a special Oh Yeah Studio poster and a skateboard deck just for that edition. The illustration is hand drawn abstract objects. This is an annual design event in Tromsø, created by Tank design and Grafill. We got to share the stage with the great motion agency Dvein from Barcelona. Former talkers on this event have been Sagmeister, Non Format, Scott Hansen and Grandpeople, to mention some. We also designed the event poster. We built a concept around the word vs-versus which is often used in boxing fights and such. It's design vs music and I'm not sure who's winning. We wanted a surreal and strange spirit for the visual so we worked with a model to get it right. For the type treatment we brought in vs number two, we really wanted to make a naive and rough contrast to the drawn subject where the technique is very realistic and detailed. lived and worked in Paris and NY. His portfolio has a wide range of different styles and techniques, everything from advertisment to portraits. Thomas wanted a new website that could reflect his personality and style. We found a darker and more sophisticated expression in his work which we thought was important to emphasize, combined with a fresh, elegant and modern look. The result became a clean and minimalistic website. The new design increased actual hits on the site with more than 1000% and also received 3 international design awards. This exhibition is about telling the story of a trafficking victim, through art work. An Episode is an event or a group of events occurring as part of a larger sequence; an incident or period considered in isolation. We where of course happy to contribute. We could choose from 3 episodes to illustrate: Coercion, Enslavement, and Restoration. We went for enslavement. Key concepts for a Enslavement centered piece- beating, isolation, abuse, sexual perversion, loss of innocence, abortions, hopelessness and lack of love. Our work focus on isolation and lack of love. This exhibition will also be following the story of Kai, a girl who was tricked into prostitution. Her story is one of hope and restoration. After being tricked into selling her body for sex, she is forced to have multiple abortions while continuing work in the brothels. After many years, she builds a relationship with women from an after care facility. She is later able to leave, and start rebuilding her life! Today, Kai is happily married and takes care of her baby while working in the same aftercare facility that took her in years ago. One of Kai’s greatest joys is seeing a new girl come in to the aftercare home and have the opportunity to sleep at night, not during the day. The opportunity for a new girl to be able to look in the mirror, and for the first time, see a girl who is valued and loved, is something that brings joy to Kai’s heart. This Exhibition will show live in New York City, in late June, 2011. Whaleless is a project dedicated to anyone wishing to express their indignation, rage, shame, disbelief or concern in an arty way. Whaleless is on tour in european cities with site specific art exhibitions. Whaleless is an idea of Giovanni Cervi and Res Pira and is powered by the Italian Pig magazine. Oh Yeah studio was exited to contribute to this project which aim is to raise money for Greenpeace. Itís nice when art and design can actually do something good. The image is an abstract representation of the the world under water, the home of the whales. We wanted the profile to reflect the high standard that Eik has, but also to keep it real, which is important to all norwegians.
